Security that works starts with security that’s understood.

An understanding of your specific environment; its layout, its vulnerabilities, and the real-world threats it faces.

That’s why every critical project we take on begins with a joint risk assessment, carried out shoulder-to-shoulder with you. We don’t just observe; we ask the right questions, listen carefully, and bring the kind of experienced eye that only comes from years on the ground.

Involve Us Early In Your Project Lifecycle

We’ve partnered with clients on some of the UK’s most complex infrastructure projects, and we know that the decisions made at the start of a project are the ones that matter most. Our team spots what others miss: access constraints, potential weak points, and installation challenges that simply don’t show up on a drawing or a brief.

A comprehensive site survey isn’t just due diligence, it’s the difference between a security solution that fits and one that falls short. At Alexandra, we don’t just supply security. We’re your partners in protection.

How We Add Value Through Consultation

Drawing Reviews

Security begins on paper. We review your existing drawings to evaluate whether they adequately address credible threats and reflect an appropriate level of protection for the site, flagging gaps or concerns before they become costly problems on the ground.

Site Surveys

No two sites are the same. Our in-person surveys allow us to see how perimeter security will translate into real-world conditions, ensuring the solution we design is tailored specifically to your site. This approach saves both time and money further down the line.

Initial plans & Designs

With a clear picture of the required deterrent, we develop initial plans and produce a design that we believe represents the optimal perimeter security setup for your project, balancing protection, practicality, and value.

Early Issue Identification

Drawing on our experience across complex, high-security environments, we pro-actively identify potential on-site challenges before they arise. Addressing these early keeps the project on track and avoids unnecessary disruption later.

Perimeter Security Design FAQs

Designing a compliant, secure and buildable perimeter security system that meets a site’s risk requirements can feel like a challenge, but that’s exactly where we come in. With deep knowledge and hands-on experience in high security perimeter fencing, we help deliver perimeter security projects across a wide range of sectors.

The process of specifying, planning, and detailing the physical and electronic security measures that will protect the boundary of a site. It involves risk assessment, threat identification, product selection, compliance checking, and the production of technical documentation to support installation. Done properly, it ensures the finished perimeter performs to the required security level and remains compliant, maintainable, and cost-effective over its lifetime.

Involving a specialist early reduces the risk of a specification that looks right on paper but doesn’t perform in practice. Common problems, including over-specification, non-compliant products, installation methods that void warranties, and security gaps at access points, are far cheaper to address at the design stage than after installation. Early involvement also allows the security specification to be integrated with other design disciplines, including civil engineering, electrical, and access control, for a more cohesive result.

Fencing should conform to relevant British Standards. For high security applications, LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board) testing and certification provide an independent assessment of forced entry resistance, with products tested and rated to LPS 1175 at various security levels. Our LPCB-rated fencing range includes products certified to SR1 and SR2, suitable for a wide range of high security applications.

Deterrence aims to discourage an attempted intrusion before it starts, through visible security measures such as high security fencing, CCTV, lighting, and warning signage. Delay refers to the physical resistance of the perimeter to forced entry, measured in the time it takes a determined intruder to breach it. The most effective perimeter solutions address both, using the layered approach to combine deterrence, delay, detection, and response into a coherent system.

We work across a wide range of sectors, including utilities and infrastructure, education, healthcare, public sector, solar and energy, construction, commercial, and domestic. High security and critical infrastructure projects are a particular area of expertise, given the compliance and specification demands they place on the perimeter security solution. View all sectors.

Understanding the Unique Security Challenges Facing Utilities Sites

Utilities sites sit at the centre of the UK’s critical national infrastructure with essential services such as electricity, water, gas, and wastewater treatment. Because these operations support entire communities and industries, the consequences of a security incident reach beyond the site perimeter. A single breach can disrupt supply to thousands, compromise public safety, and expose…

How the Surge in Grid-Scale Battery Projects Is Changing Perimeter Threat Profiles

The UK battery storage sector is growing at a pace few industries ever see. By the end of 2025, operational grid-scale capacity had reached nearly 6.9 GW, with more than 4 GWh added in that year alone. Over 2,000 projects are currently in the pipeline, more than 60 GW have planning approval, and average project…
