A non-league club recently undertook an important safety upgrade to replace ageing concrete pitchside walls with modern spectator railings, improving the safety and experience for supporters, players, and match officials.

Football grounds carry a clear duty of care, and with increased scrutiny on football ground safety barriers across non-league football, clubs are moving away from outdated concrete structures. This follows growing pressure within the game, highlighted by an online petition calling for concrete wall bans that gained over 17,000 signatures.

To meet FA ground criteria and create a safer, compliant pitch perimeter, the club selected our Protek Spectator Rail system as a durable and practical alternative to concrete walling. Alexandra partnered with a trusted installer to supply and install the new barrier system, ensuring full perimeter protection and a layout that supports both matchday operations and long-term safety standards.

The Protek system prevents balls from escaping through the barrier and provides a robust, low-maintenance solution that will remain compliant as the club progresses through the non-league pyramid. Finished in the club’s colours with a long-lasting powder-coated surface, the new football ground safety barrier also enhances the look and feel of the stadium.
