Located on Lucks Hill in West Malling, Kent, this new development involves the construction of a 70-bedroom care home by Perseus Land & Developments, with Lawrence Baker Ltd as the main contractor. The scheme includes not only the main care facility (classified under use class C2), but also parking, access roads, landscaping, and a range of associated infrastructure works.
To provide secure, practical access to the construction site during this multi-phase build, Alexandra Security supplied and delivered two gates from our trusted SiteGard® range.
Our Solution
To protect the site entrance and manage access effectively, we supplied:
- 1 x SiteGard® Double Leaf Temporary Vehicle Gate (6m wide)
- 1 x SiteGard® Single Leaf Temporary Pedestrian Gate (1.2m wide)
These gates were installed adjacent to each other at the site’s main access point, creating a clearly defined and secure entry for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The vehicle gate was fitted with twin dropbolts, allowing each gate leaf to be held open securely when site traffic is entering or exiting. The gates were set back from the road junction to enable both leaves to swing fully open without interfering with passing traffic – a key safety consideration on this active development site.
The pedestrian gate provided a controlled access point for site workers, visitors and deliveries on foot. The steel mesh cladding on both gates offered additional functionality, allowing the contractor to display company branding, safety signage and site access instructions directly onto the gate panels.
